Roberts Group Earns Prestigious Sustainability Award

The Roberts Group, the leading UK manufacturer of advanced liquid solutions, was awarded the edie Net-Zero Strategy of the Year (SME) Award in a glittering London ceremony.

The edie Net-Zero Awards reward both individuals and organisations who are spearheading the UK’s transition towards a Net-Zero carbon economy. Spanning the entire sustainability landscape, from breakthrough innovations and technological solutions, through to industry-leading carbon reduction programmes and ambitious energy management initiatives, the edie Net-Zero Awards are regarded as a prestigious accolade for sustainable businesses.  The event saw several large, internationally recognised organisations such as John Lewis Partnership, Octopus Energy, BT Group, and DPD UK all vying for one of these highly sought after awards.

As the parent company of four brands specialising in liquid waterproofing, including Polyroof, Restec, Resology, and Stormcure, the Roberts Group has been manufacturing their market-leading solutions for over 40 years. Today, they continue to grow from strength to strength through product innovation and continuous dedication to research and development, based at their long-standing facilities in Flint, North Wales.

The edie Net-Zero Strategy of the Year (SME) Award comes as a true accolade in recognition of the company’s strategy to create a sustainable future for all. Spearheaded by the Group’s Head of Sustainability, Andrew Roberts, a third-generation member of the businesses founding family, who is solely dedicated to strategically evolving the organisation’s operations to pave the way for a sustainable future and support the Government’s pledge to achieve Net Zero by the year 2050.

Having propelled significant focus into the Roberts Group’s green agenda, Andrew is actively committed to embedding sustainability into the heart of the organisation, immersed throughout the company from top to bottom. It is very much the aim of Andrew and the wider Roberts Group to lead to the way on sustainability, making conscious, data-driven decisions that maximise the positive influence on all elements of the business and the environments in which their liquid waterproofing solutions are installed.

The organisation’s Net-Zero strategy focuses on reducing carbon emissions throughout their operations, from sourcing sustainable materials to optimising energy efficiency. The Roberts Group has already implemented a number of initiatives, underpinned by ambitious Net-Zero and carbon reduction targets, including a 42% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2030, reinforcing the company’s status as a sustainable industry leader. From investing in sustainable product technology to analysing how the Group can decarbonise their entire supply chain, sustainability plays a pivotal role in their long-term manifesto.

Speaking of his delight in receiving this commendation, Andrew said:

“We are elated to be the recipients of the edie Net-Zero Strategy of the Year (SME) Award, which comes as a remarkable milestone and is testament to the sustainable achievements we have already made as a business. As leaders in the manufacture of high-performance liquid solutions, we are proud to be one of the few businesses in the roofing sector receive an award of such high calibre.

“The edie Net-Zero Awards recognise the dedication and tenacity of businesses across all landscapes, from large scale retailers and global clean energy companies to FTSE 100 constituents, therefore, we are overjoyed to be representing the roofing industry as a recognised leader for sustainability. As we continue to evolve our operations, we will continue our mission towards achieving our ambitious, science-based targets whilst paving the way for other roofing organisations.”
