The construction industry stands as a crucial sector, shaping the landscapes of our living and working spaces through the creation of homes, buildings, and infrastructure.
Faced with escalating expectations for improved, more intelligent, and greener construction practices, the sector is challenged to redefine the way buildings are conceived, fabricated, and assembled. In response to these demands, there is a pressing need to foster the skills essential for the industry's prosperity.
The University of Wales Trinity Saint David’s Construction Wales Innovation Centre has been funded to offer a new training programme which they’ve called Construct Net Zero Cymru (CNZC). CNZC is made of two distinctive projects that will focus on broadening our understanding of the green agenda as well as develop practical training skills.
Not Business As Usual – A Construct Net Zero Cymru training project
Not Business As Usual will focus on educating and promoting a greater awareness of the principles and techniques used in the design, construction, and maintenance of a variety of low-carbon construction methods, with a particular focus on the building fabric. Training will be offered to participants from Swansea, Neath Port Talbot, Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire.
Construct Net-Zero Cymru activities will work alongside partners in industry, higher and further education, schools and the third sector to create and deliver micro courses in ‘Fabric First‘ design. Sessions will be held in the university’s construction workshop using a range of tailor made equipment and training aids to enhance these skills.
