As part of a new series supporting SMEs on their journey to net zero, and the potential benefits they can gain from taking action, Business News Wales spoke to members of the SME Taskforce in Wales, to gather their insight.
Gemma Casey, NatWest Cymru’s Ecosystem Manager for Wales and co-chair of the Wales SME Taskforce for Climate, supports SMEs across the country with NatWest’s Enterprise Strategy. This includes the fully-funded support schemes offered by NatWest for businesses at all stages of their journey.
Gemma talks us through the three key components that are essential for an SME when starting their net zero journey – Connections, Communication and Collaboration. She outlines some of the findings of the recently-released NatWest Sustainable Business Tracker, including the impact of the current challenging economic conditions on SME carbon reduction action.
Highlights spoken about include the role of the business ecosystem in supporting SMEs with action on carbon reduction, as well as how SMEs can learn from larger companies who are already on their net zero transition.
