Trojan Electronics Leads E-Waste Reduction with Circular Solutions

Electronic waste, commonly referred to as e-waste, pertains to discarded electrical or electronic devices.

This type of waste has been growing exponentially in recent decades, largely due to the rapid technological advancement and the resultant shortening lifecycle of electronic products, ranging from large household appliances such as refrigerators and televisions, to smaller devices like mobile phones and laptops.

The exponential growth in e-waste presents both environmental challenges and opportunities. On one hand, it contributes significantly to global waste streams and can potentially release harmful toxins into the environment, posing risks to ecosystems and human health.

On the other hand, it contains valuable materials such as gold, silver, copper, and rare earth metals that could be recovered, recycled and used in the production of new devices.

James Rigg, CEO of Trojan Electronics, spoke to Green Economy Wales about how the business came to fruition and their key goal of providing circular solutions and reducing e-waste by encouraging manufacturers to recycle and refurb electronics.
